Churches to get property

THE Drakenstein Council has approved a recommendation in principle that the direct sale of the old kitchen buildings in A, B, C and D blocks, in Mbekweni to the respective churches which have been using them for decades. The land will be sold at a reduced selling price of 20% of the market value (VAT excluded) once a valuation has been done and applicants will be responsible for all costs related to the transaction, including rezoning. A reversionary clause will be registered against the title deeds of the property. The relevant applicants will also be required to pay all outstanding rent before, or at least at, registration of transfer.
