Car freaks get down and dirty
2009-07-09
THE members of the ToyFreak Car Club decided to boost the community by giving generously of their time towards the Drakenstein Community Gardens. Recently, fuelled by a cup of coffee and enthusiasm the wheels of the ToyFreak club members rolled down to the community gardens, where under the vigilant eyes of Nicholas Februarie and Cecil Wilton they prepped the earth for produce. This garden has been in existence for approximately 16 years and is one of the few successful Rural Development Projects nationwide. The caretakers were keen to share their love for both the history of the garden and the agriculture. As everything grown is organic, it was an opportunity for the Toy Freak members to get down and dirty as they wallowed in compost. Driving around the gardens was a new experience as power steering and ABS brakes do not come standard on a wheelbarrow. As much fun as it was fun, there were several sighs of relief as everyone got back into the comfort of their cars. Contact Fabian Pietersen regarding the club on 073-246-9308.
