MEET tomorrow’s scientists at the Eskom Expo for young scientists organised by the Institute for Mathematics and Science Teaching at Stellenbosch University (IMSTUS).
It will be held on Friday 26 August in the Paul Roos Gymnasium (Activity Centre) in Stellenbosch.
After the judges have made their rounds, the entries from schools from the Boland, Overberg and West Coast will be open for viewing by the public from 11:00.
Staff members from various faculties of the University will serve on the panel of judges.
For the regional finals of the Expo, learners have entered projects in categories such as physical or chemical sciences, technology, innovation and electronics, animal and plant sciences, climate change, medical and health sciences, agriculture, nutrition, mathematics, computer science and social sciences.
During the afternoon, activities centre on the prize-giving function, which starts at 15:00 and the announcement of the finalists who will go through to the national competition to be held later this year in Pretoria. Some of the 2004 winners will also give feedback from 13:30 onwards.
