2005-08-18

CONSTRUCTION is all but complete on the R320 million Paarl Mall development and tenants are gearing up for the 20 October opening.

With just two-and-a-half months to go, developers Flanagan & Gerard have promised 100 stores, an all-star line-up of fashion favourites and supermarket giants complemented by a mix of local traders and boutique-style stores.

Anchor tenants Pick ‘n Pay, Woolworths and Edgars are all retaining their downtown stores while opening upgraded, larger stores in the Centre.

Pick ‘n Pay at Paarl Mall is offering an exciting 6 000m˛ of superb convenience while Woolworths will use this opportunity to extend its food, textiles and houseware offerings in the Valley.

The new Edgars will also be a full-line store. Edgars bring with them CNA and Jet.

The Foschini Group has reserved space for 11 of their brands, many of them new to the area.

They include Foschini, Donna Claire, Markhams, Sport Scene, TotalSports, ASJ, Sterns, @Home, EXACT and Due South.
Truworths too is gracing the Mall with its fashion and beauty emporium including Truworths, Truworths Man, Daniel Hechter, InWear, Elements and Identity.

The discount health retailer Dischem is opening a large 14 000 m˛ store while the Clicks group are accounting for 1 250 m˛ with the new Clicks and Musica stores.

Nationals

Pepkor too is a major presence in the Centre with a large 18 000m˛ Ackermans, a Pep and a Hang Ten store.

Other nationals include Mr Price, Mr Price Home, Galaxy and Milady’s with banking and financial services being offered by Standard, Absa and First National Bank. Discussions with Nedbank are currently underway.

A beautiful food court, where visitors can relax in the shade of fully-grown trees, has been designed. Expect to find family favourites like Spur and Panarotti’s there as well as a new entrant to the Western Cape market, fish franchise, John Dorey’s.

Supplementing the nationals is a carefully selected mix of sole traders and franchisees like Nando’s, Wimpy, and coffee shops.
