Facing death

SINGLE parent Anna Blayi (24) has escaped death twice in a year from the elements which destroyed her shack in Esigiqgini, in OR Section near Paarl. She was hard hit in November when fire destroyed about 120 shacks in the area. Blayi was one of the 500 people who were displaced during the fire. On Sunday night Blayi suffered another blow when she had to flee when her shack collapsed during heavy rain. “Last year I lost everything when my shack was destroyed by fire - I only got away with my child. Now the hard rain caused the roof to collapse. I do not feel safe in this area any more because of all these disasters.”
