Two ‘International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF)’ coaching courses were organised by Athletics South Africa. The IAAF Level II and Level III coaching courses took place from 28 June to 11 July in Magaliesburg in the North West Province. Only coaches who have coached athletes who won medals at National Championships in recent years, were invited to the IAAF Coaching Courses. Du Plessis, the coach of among others Melissa Hewitt (double gold medallist at 2009 SA Junior Champs), and le Roux, the coach of among others Willem Le Roux (SA record holder in Decathlon), attended the IAAF Level III Coaching Course. Adoons, the coach of among other Mzwandile Quashani (medallist at 2009 SA Junior Championships), and Neff, the coach of among other Leroy Bitterhout (medallist at 2009 SA Schools Championships), attended the IAAF Level II coaching course. “Boland Athletics has consistently produced medal winners at national and international level in recent years and is committed to provide an even better service to its athletes and coaches in future says,” Dr Harold Adams, president of Boland Athletics. “We are proud of the above-mentioned coaches, whom now count among the elite few in South Africa with international coaching qualifications.”
