ALL-STAR judges have awarded a silver medal to Groot Parys Wine Estate at the second annual International Green Wine Competition held in California.

The purpose of the competition is to identify outstanding wines for consumption by environmentally conscious consumers.

Groot Parys Estate’s wines competed against over 200 wines entered from over 90 wineries from around the world with a wooded chenin blanc, Die Tweede Droom 2008.

This has earned Groot Parys in Paarl the right to be listed on the exclusive Consumer’s Green Wine Shopping List.

The owners of Groot Parys, Eric Verhaak and Mariëtte Rass, say the conversion of the farm from conventional to organic farming took three years.
