THIS year’s Cultivaria arts festival promises a spectacular line-up of entertainment ranging from theatre and music to dance, comedy and classics.
From 23 to 27 September, the fourth edition of South Africa’s fastest growing festival will turn Paarl into an entertainment hub as hundreds of productions featuring some of the country’s top performers are staged at various venues throughout the town.
Cultivaria 2009 will see ever-popular artists such as Cape Town City Ballet, Nataniël, the Bala Brothers, Coenie de Villiers, Rory Rootenberg, Mathys Roets, Chris Chameleon and Jak de Priester return to wow the crowds.
Several new shows are also included in the festival calendar, including the sizzling production It takes Two, which sees songstress Nianell and husky-voiced Dozi teaming up.
David Kramer will also be making a return visit to Cultivaria this year.
The Heinz Emporium will offer festival-goers the opportunity to enjoy refreshments, live entertainment and take a breather from the jam-packed festival calendar.
Visitors can relax and taste wines from top wine producers from the region, while food vendors will provide a smorgasbord of snacks and meals.
The Emporium features a fabulous line-up of live entertainment to keep the buzz going around the clock. Don’t miss the ever-popular hits from McCully’s Workshop or the fabulous Jakkals en Leeu with the talented duo of Jakkie Louw and Kevin Leo as well as Robbie Wessels.
Food lovers should not miss the Bokomo Food & Home Kitchen at the Emporium where celebrity chefs, food editors and cooks extraordinaire will present daily cooking demonstrations that will sharpen your culinary skills.
Visitors can also explore the rich cultural and architectural heritage of Paarl by joining the Chas Everitt Heritage tours. These guided tours offer a unique insight into Paarl’s history and takes in some of the oldest wine estates, churches and buildings in the town.
Kids can enjoy the festival at the Liqui-Fruit Kids Theatre and Playground where a full day of entertainment is scheduled for the duration of the festival. Strict security and supervision is in place to ensure that the little ones enjoy all the activities and shows.
