THE annual winter lecture series of the Drakenstein Heritage Foundation will be held on Thursday evenings (6 to 27 August) at the Hout Street Gallery in Paarl at 20:00.
¡ On 8 August Coen Birken-stock will give an illustrated talk about the historic development of the Cape Town harbour.
¡ On 13 August, architectural historian Dr Desmond Martin will give an illustrated talk on walking Long Street in Cape Town.
¡ On 20 August Prof Robert Shell will discuss the architecture of the ancient regime complex in Cape Town and conclude with anecdotes about the slaves.
¡ On 27 August Dr Peter Merrington, a founder member of the Heritage Council of the Western Cape, will talk about Dorothea Fairbridge and the idea of Cape heritage circa 1910.
