THE ongoing and increasing costs of repairs and maintenance to municipal property is a great concern for the Drakenstein Municipality.
It is not the municipality that vandalises property, but the community. Yet, the municipality gets the blame for vandalism in the Drakenstein area.
The fact is that Council cannot continue to use ratepayers’ money to pay for the repairs when repairs are required so often. It just becomes too expensive.
Therefore the Drakenstein Municipality has issued a plea to the community not to vandalise municipal property, like stadiums, but to look after it.
At the end of the day, that property is there for the use of the community.
