Epilepsy appeal to parents

Epilepsy appeal to parents

2009-08-27

A LETTER of mine was recently published with regards to our son of 19 who has a rare form of epilepsy.

We had a reasonable response and have made new friends and have been given good advice, information and guidance and have made good progress because of this. Thank you to those of you that responded.

However, we are still looking for a place where he can spend weekdays (or half days) in the company of a few people who have a similar illness (I stress “few” as noise affects him) whereby they can pass the day playing cards, chatting, watching TV or doing whatever makes them happy.

It seems as if there is no such place in Paarl and I am wondering if there are parents with a similar problem with whom we can possibly arrange to meet in Paarl at various private residences or even have an arrangement with a local church or youth club to use their facilities.

We can possibly arrange a lift club between us and have turns dropping and collecting.

A further thought is if there is maybe a retired nursing sister who is prepared to act as “mother” for the group the cost of any financial reward for this be split amongst us.

I look forward to positive responses and I am open to any other ideas or suggestions in this matter. I can be contacted on 083-703-0273.
