Victoy for Paarl in Crazy Games
2009-08-27
LAST Thursday the whole of Paarl was watching while a local team took part in the reality television show, Crazy Games, on SABC 2. The team, lead by Maawyah Moerat (Sport Liaison Officer of Drakenstein Municipality), consisted of well-known sports personalities of the Drakenstein area. Although the team only managed to win two of the games against the winners of the previous two series, Port Alfred, they made it through to the final round with a very good effort by local fireman, Shane Phillips. Phillips beat his opponents from Port Alfred on the very difficult Ratchet by pulling himself to the top without much difficulty. He was followed by Jaco Stander (also a fireman) and SA wrest-ler, Coenraad de Villiers, who won the Games for Paarl. The Paarl team will now compete in the Crazy Games finals in Johannesburg, which will be televised later in the year. Details of the exact date of the broadcast will be published soon.
