Award for wine list
2009-09-03
THE Grande Roche Hotel’s Bosman’s Restaurant in Paarl has been awarded the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 2009 for having one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world. This is the second time in a row that the restaurant has received the prestigious accolade by one of the world’s most respected wine publications. Devised by Tobias Brauweiler of Bosman’s, one of only a handful of qualified wine sommeliers in South Africa, Bosman’s wine list “reflects depth”, says Tobias. “A good wine list, I believe, is not about having a lot of labels, but being able to offer guests various vintages as well as a variety of styles.” Tobias spent the entire July winter recess driving 4000km across the Cape, sampling 1200 wines on 85 estates to research and broaden varietals for the Bosman’s wine menu to compliment the restaurant’s fine cuisine.
