THE peacefulness of Rosaki Street, Paarl East, was shattered on Sunday afternoon, when a son stabbed his father to death. According to eye-witnesses, Francois Maarman (25) and his father Flippie (48) became involved in an argument in the middle of the road, after Flippie, presumably in a drunken state, had tried to assault his mother. Francois produced a knife and allegedly stabbed his father in the chest. He died on the scene. * A seventeen-year-old boy was stabbed to death in Lanquedoc on Monday evening, during an altercation with another teenager. Quintin Fortuin was walking in the street with friends at 20:00, when the seventeen-year-old suspect called him. An argument followed, during which Fortuin was stabbed in the chest. * The body of Elton Rabie (19) was discovered on Saturday evening in Santana Street, Groenheuwel, with a stab wound to the chest. After thorough investigation by Insp Gavin Lombaard of the Paarl East detective branch, the suspect, Benjamin Kettledes (18), was arrested in Elsies River. * Also on Saturday evening, a man died after being stabbed in the neck on Uitkyk farm near Paardeberg. The deceased and another farm worker, Tieties Stuurman, became involved in an argument after an evening of drinking and gambling. He was later found in a pool of blood. Stuurman appeared in court.
