Tragedy after motor cycle rally
2009-09-10
TRAGEDY struck a motor cycle rally on Saturday evening, when a motor-cyclist was killed seconds after leaving the event. The Lone Cheetah motor-cycle club held their annual rally at Nelson’s Creek Wine Estate on Saturday. Shortly before 21:00 a couple from Brackenfell left the event together on a Kawasaki 400cc motor cycle. The driver misjudged the road when he got to the exit of the wine estate, and turned into the lane for oncoming traffic on the R44. The motor cycle was struck by a Toyota and the motor-cyclists were flung over the vehicle. A bakkie then collided with them killing Cindy-Lee Doyle instantly. Her partner was transported to Paarl MediClinic where he remains in a critical condition.
