Excellent service from policeman

Excellent service from policeman

I WOULD like to give a “Big Thank You” to Constable Gabriël Mostert from the Detective Unit at Wellington police station.

We went to the Grahamstown Festival for 11 days during the July school holidays.

While in Grahamstown, we received a call that my daughter’s bicycle had been stolen. She received the bike as a Christmas gift and was very proud of it.

The bicycle has been reported as stolen to Wellington police and a docket was opened. Ater a week with no success of getting the bicycle back, the case was closed. The Friday, while still in Grahamstown, we asked for the case to be re-opened.

On our arrival the Sunday evening, I had to share this sad news with my daughter and the tears were running!

On the Monday morning a different constable from Wellington Police Station, Constable Mostert, paid us a visit and said to me that he would do his utmost best to get her bicycle back. The very next day I received a phone call from Constable Mostert, who had found a bicycle that fitted the description of her stolen bicycle.

I then rushed down to the police station to identify the bicycle (which was my daughter’s bicycle). I could not believe my eyes! On my way back home I realised how passionate, competent and dedicated Constable Mostert was in his duty to find the bicycle. This valuable member of staff is a doer, not a talker.
