Family fun at Mountain-bike festival
2009-09-10
THE Nelson’s Creek Mountain-bike Festival this weekend is the ideal way to beat the winter blues with three days of family fun! This festival of riding offers bikers of all ages a choice of short, medium and long routes through some of the most spectacular landscapes in the Boland. Each day’s trails will start and finish at the beautiful Nelson Wine Estate. Beginners and novices can tackle the shorter loops of 15km or 18km on fairly flat terrain, while intermediate riders can enjoy the fast 32km or 35km routes through the rolling countryside. More experienced bikers can try the longer 50km and 55km trails. Washing and maintenance services will be offered to keep competitors’ bikes in top condition. Other highlights for kids will include fun pony rides, a trampoline, quad biking and swings. Tickets cost from as little as R50 and the three day challenge is R525, starting on Friday at 13:00 and on Saturday and Sunday at 08:30. Meals will be available at R90 p/p. Note that all meals need to be pre-ordered from Dirtopia prior to the start of the event (book at info@dirtopia.co.za or call 021-884-4752.) There will also be wine tasting and farm stalls. Camping facilities with 700 camping spots are available for making the event a weekend get-away. Nelson’s Creek is also offering accommodation. See their website.
