Curator for farm
2009-09-17
THE application by the manager of the farm Canetsfontein, Wellington, that the owner’s estate be liquidated, has been refused in the Cape Supreme Court. The farm manager, Stephanus Louw, applied for the liquidation of Falk Real Estate because the owner, Alexander Falk, owes him more than R400 000 in unpaid salary. Judge Willem Louw ruled that the business should not be liquidated, but that instead a curator bonis should be appointed to handle the Falk estate and the farm in South Africa. Falk’s assets in South Africa include a Standard Bank account of R59 million, which has been frozen since he was prosecuted for attempted fraud in Germany in 2003. He is currently appealing the indictment.
