Rijk’s Private Cellar took the honours, receiving the Grand Prix Trophy for Rijk’s Private Cellar Shiraz 2004 while KWV received the Brandy Trophy for their 15-year-old brandy.

A record number of 1502 entries from 263 wine producers were received – 160 more wines than in 2008.

The entries collected a total of 524 medals of which 52 were double gold, 191 gold and 279 silver. In addition, nine trophies were awarded.

The Double Gold Medal winners included Rijk’s (2), KWV (2), Nederburg (3), Graham Beck (2), Doolhof (2), Anura, Andreas, Boland, Douglas Green, La Motte and Alée Bleue.
