GOURMANDS, food lovers and keen culinary students should not miss the sessions in the Bokomo Food & Home Kitchen at the fourth Cultivaria festival to be hosted in Paarl from 23 to 27 September.
A fabulous line-up of celebrity chefs, food editors and cooks extraordinaire forms part of the culinary offerings, which will be staged daily at the Heinz Emporium at the Faure Stadium.
Magazine food editors Vickie de Beer and Anna Montali will delight with the latest entertaining tips and catering cost-cutters.
Sugar chef Nicolas van der Walt promises to once again be a highlight of the cooking demonstrations with his amazing sugar confectionary and chocolate creations in ‘Something Sweet.’
Don’t miss award-winning chef Bertus Basson from one of South Africa’s top ten restaurants, Overture at Hidden Valley wine estate, showing off his awesome culinary skills, which have earned him the opportunity to represent South Africa at the prestigious Bocuse d’Or individual chef competition in France in 2007.
His culinary partner at All Things Culinary, Craig McCormack, will provide a fascinating look behind the kitchen scene in ‘Chefs on the Move’.
Chef Chris Erasmus, former sous chef at the internationally renowned Le Quartier Francais, will delight with his ‘French Affair’.
Chef Johann van Schalkwyk from Twist some More will show his flair with fresh produce and his unique interpretation of classic dishes, while baker extraordinaire Jean-Pierre Smith from Cotage Fromage will present ‘Deli Delicious’ with some of his signature deli delights.
The Culinary Academy will once again entertain guests with head chefs Ronan Boucher and Justin Paterson presenting ‘Men in the Kitchen’ and ‘Kitchen Basics’.
As the official wine supplier to Cultivaria, local wine producer Simonsvlei will pair some of their award-winning wines with dishes created during some of these sessions.
Seating at the Bokomo Food & Home Kitchen is limited and early arrival is recommended.
Entry to demonstrations are free with the purchase of any Cultivaria show ticket, alternatively tickets can be bought at the gate of the Faure Stadium at R40 per person.
