STUDENTS from the Helen O’Grady Drama Academy’s youth wing will be performing a modern version of Macbeth at the Old Mill Theatre on Tuesday 17 November.
The Academy still has a few spaces for budding actors in this region from ages 13 to 18 years. No audition is needed.
This play will form part of the Academy’s summer production programme which also includes plays for the 5 to 8 years and 9 to 12 years age groups.
The director of this piece, Jeffrey Moss, who is also the teacher of this class said, “This is a marvellous opportunity for the young people of this area, and is a culmination of the work completed in our international programme over the course of this year.
“We will aim to bring a new angle to Macbeth, using ingenious acting and stage techniques to bring the story alive.”
Many of the improvisational skills taught will help to bring the drama alive. Students will wear neutral masks so that they learn how to communicate effectively using their bodies and voices.
“Tackling such a challenging play will give all our students scope to showcase their talents,” said the principal of the Academy, Duncan Rice.
