Road running workshop in Paarl

A Road Running Workshop, organised by Boland Athletics, took place over the past weekend at the Picardie Guest-house in Paarl. The workshop was attended by 27 representatives of clubs in the Boland and three representatives of clubs from South Western Districts. During the Workshop, the representatives were equipped with skills to run an athletics club, organise a road race and act as referee. The representatives were required to complete a questionnaire to test the skills of the representatives in running a club, organising a race and judging an event in road running. A 100% passing rate was achieved with an average of 84,2%. Local club representatives who qualified as race organisers and referees are Kevin Arendse (Paarl AC), Kosie Botha (Correctional Services), Charles Botman (Wellington AC), Brandon du Plessis (Paarl AC), Samarlie du Plessis (CPUT AC), Nicholas Fisher (Wellington AC), Piet Jacobs (Nedbank AC), Dinah Jansen (Wellington AC), Willem Jansen (Wellington AC), Michael Keown (CPUT AC), Allyson Kock (Paarl AC), Klaas Maffa (Franchhoek AC), Hendry Mathews (Paarl AC) and Etheresia Thomas (Paarl AC).
