AN alleged rapist hanged himself in the police cells of Paarl East police station, only hours before his court appearance.
Christo Bailey (35) was arrested on Thursday for the rape of a female friend in Du Toit’s Kloof.
He was held at the Paarl East police cells, awaiting his court appearance at Paarl Magistrates’ Court on Friday, when he was found at 03:00 hanging from a track-suit cord in his cell.
