La Motte receives gold and double gold

2009-10-22

THE second of the screw top wines that La Motte has launched, the La Motte 2009 Sauvignon Blanc, was recently awarded Gold at the Mundus Vini Awards in Germany.

The wine has an attractive straw colour and shows green apple and green bean flavours, supported by the back notes of wild-grass.

“This wine is very reflective of our warm South African climate with its grass and fruit flavour components; making it a deliciously refreshing summer drink although it is as delicious all year around,” commented Hein Koegelenberg, CEO of La Motte Estate.

The 2006 La Motte Millennium was another winner at the Michelangelo Awards, taking a prestigious Double Gold award.

It is a typical Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec.

The 2006 vintage was the first of the Millennium blends to be Cabernet Franc-based, which resulted in an intense dark chocolate flavour and a deep red colour. The blend is impeccably smooth with a silky palate and juicy tannins.

“The 2006 La Motte Millennium will be a talking point amongst Millennium supporters. The combination is as unique and complementary as always and will certainly not disappoint,” says Hein.
