LIFESTYLE farmers or those seeking to escape the rat-race may find their ideal destination in a new project launched to market just outside Paarl.

A portion of the original Landskroon farm has been sub-divided into ten sections of approximately seven hectares each, which are now available for purchase through Pam Golding Properties (PGP).

The erven range from 6,4 hectares to 7,6 hectares in size, and are priced from R1,65 million to R2,65 million.

PGP’s area manager for Paarl, Surina du Toit, says the properties offer outstanding views of the Simonsberg and Drakenstein mountains, and the surrounding farmland. “This land has not been previously developed,” she says, “so buyers have the opportunity to build their dream home with no restrictions on design or layout.

“The land already has electricity and household water supply in place. If buyers are interested in small-scale farming, the fertile ground would be suitable for planting to grapes, olives or fruit.

“But most important of all, there is the opportunity to embrace a rural lifestyle in a beautiful, tranquil environment, that is nevertheless within easy reach of top schools, medical care and shopping.

“It is the ideal place in which to raise a family, away from the noise, pollution and crime of bigger city living.”

The farms are just five minutes from the town of Paarl and under 20 minutes from Franschhoek, Wellington and Stellenbosch – meaning that some of the country’s top wine farms and restaurants are on the doorstep.

Says PGP’s MD for the Boland and Overberg, Annien Borg: “This is one of the few remaining opportunities to purchase such pristine farmland in such manageable portions.

“This particular demarcation of new erven was carried out just prior to the implementation of new legislation, which makes it virtually impossible to sub-divide farmland below 40 hectares in this area. So this is literally one of the final opportunities to acquire such portions of land.”

Borg adds that the pricing is extremely competitive for agricultural land, coming in at around R235 000 per hectare.

“This is the chance to acquire land in a manageable size, already serviced, and in a prime location in the very heart of the Winelands,” she says.
