HEAVY rain has made the past month the wettest August in 31 years, with a total of 221mm measured by Monday. Since last Thursday 52mm was measured in Paarl.
In 1999 a total of 210mm was measured, and in 2001 a total of 214mm, but the heavy rain of the past month is the most measured since the 354mm of August 1974.
The Wemmershoek Dam is currently 91,6% full compared to 56% this time last year.
Extremely low temperatures were measured over the past week, with snowfalls on Friday night and a low of 3degrees on Saturday morning. Low minimum temperatures are expected over the weekend.
