RUDNET will be hosting its 6th annual Farm Health Award Ceremony on 3 December at L’Avenir Wine Estate near Stellenbosch. The Farm Health Award Ceremony is a culmination of an evaluation process on the socio-economic conditions and labour standards on farms conducted by Rudnet annually. The Farm Health Award is thus an acknowledgement of the contributions by farm owners, farm workers and leaders in the agricultural sector towards the improvement of the quality of life and living standards on farms. To be eligible for the Award a minimum rating of 80% in the evaluation scale qualifies any farm that participates in the project, resulting in their invitation to the Ceremony which is expected to be honoured by the Minister of Agriculture and the chairperson of Sawit. Farms participate in different categories which include the size, location and the number of people employed. The three best achievers are announced for each category. Recognition is also given to the “Farm Worker of the Year”. This award goes to the farm worker whose initiatives and contributions are geared towards the improvement of socio-economic conditions of the farm he/she is residing on. Three industry leaders will also be honoured for their contributions towards the transformation of the wine industry at the ceremony on 14 November.
