FOURTEEN riders of the Neotel Yorkshire Cycling Academy took part in the Tiletoria West Coast Express race, which forms part of the Pedal Power Spring League Series, in Milnerton on Sunday.

The main event (Juniors, Under 23’s and Elites) was represented by Yorkshire Neotel’s Avery Arendse, Reginald Benjamin and Marius September.

The race came down to a bunch sprint of approximately 30 riders and it was Moolman Wegemoed (Daikin) who showed that he still has the speed in his legs when he crossed the finish line for first position.

Yorkshire’s Arendse crossed the line in 9th position overall, but he was the first junior of the day to cross the line.

Also from the Neotel Yorkshire Academy, finishing in the bunch, were Yorkshire’s u.23 riders, September and Benjamin.

* In the under 14 league race over 38 km, a group of ten riders were the leading bunch in the race after about 17 km, with five Yorkshire Neotel riders in this bunch.

Brent van Rooyen (Rhadsport) showed some good speed on the day to claim victory, with Jean Claude Jantjies claiming third place. Graeme Ockhuis finished 8th.
