La Motte on shortlist
2009-11-12
THE La Motte Estate Wine recently made the shortlist for the Green Awards category of the first Wine Innovation Awards 2009, held recently in London. This award was judged by a panel of highly regarded international wine buyers and media, and had particularly high entries for the Business Awards of which the Green Award is a category, from around the world. La Motte was very proud to be shortlisted amongst such a prestigious group. “We are immensely proud of this achievement,” said Hein Koegelenberg, CEO of La Motte, “to be recognised by a judging panel the calibre of this one is a huge compliment.” In harmony with the production of wines, La Motte has also more recently ventured into flower cultivation and the production of ethereal oils. The wine estate is famous for its monthly classical concerts which feature international and local artists. Their tasting room is a well-known destination for visitors to the valley and offers a variety of wines to taste as well as guidance on food pairings. Grapes are grown organically on La Motte’s Nabot vineyard in the Walker Bay area. The estate has a strong commitment to historic and cultural preservation, as well as the active socio-economic upliftment of its workers and their families. The Wine Innovation Awards were launched in 2009 by The Drinks Business to recognise and reward creativity in wine business.
