R80m business park on Mall's doorstep
2009-11-12
STRONG signs of economic recovery and the increasing growth of Paarl as a top-end business and residential hub have led two major property companies to a collaboration on one of the first significant office parks in the region, adjoining the Paarl Mall. The new R80 million Paarl Business Park of 5000 square metres is a project initiated by national property development and investment group Atterbury, and Prosperito, a national developer based in Cape Town. The site’s immediate proximity to the Mall and the N1 will make it highly visible and increase the significance of the business park as a base for professional practices and corporate headquarters. With five separate buildings to be completed in stages starting early next year, the park’s offices are for sale or rent from 60m˛ upwards. The buildings will have two storeys, with basement parking. “The Paarl Business Park is strategically positioned in terms of its direct access to the N1, and its visibility both from the highway and the retail centre parking area offers a valuable branding opportunity for occupants,” said Mark Mouton, MD of Atterbury Cape. “It also has the attraction of flexibility, being able to accommodate both smaller business and larger corporates, allowing for growth.” Prosperito MD Gerhardt Jooste said the decision to use the land for an office park had its roots in the imperatives that have developed with the significant migration of families to this area of the countryside. “Paarl has an enormous rural attraction, and offers a wonderful life for people who want their kids to have the best opportunities for personal growth. “The residential development in the area (like Boschenmeer, Pearl Valley and Val de Vie) is extremely high quality.” Architecture by Boogertman and Partners will have a texture similar to the Paarl Mall, featuring stone, glass and steel as the primary elements of the facades and creating a cohesive architectural precinct. Prosperito and Atterbury, while undertaking their own major independent projects, have also collaborated on successful joint ventures that include the Fountains Regional Mall at Jeffrey’s Bay, Bella Rosa Village in Durbanville, as well as the Tygerberg Office Park where both have offices.
