Business turns to ashes

A 61-year-old grandmother who is well known for her sewing, is in sackcloth and ashes after her business was gutted in a fire.

Part of Grace Klass’s RDP house and four shacks were destroyed in the fire in Mbekweni Chris Hani section, on Saturday, when a strong wind was blowing.

Klass said she was watching TV when she heard someone shout “fire”: “When I got outside my business was in flames. I could not believe my eyes seeing the angry flames destroying my sewing business.”

“It looks as if the fire started in the shack where I keep my sewing machine, overlocker and the material which I use to make clot-hes.”

As the wind pushed the flames towards her house bystanders were forced to move her belongings out to the street, causing some damage to her furniture.

Anyone who can help Klass to restore her business can call her at 073-677-8054.
