Athlone Trust Bursaries for 2010
2009-11-19
FOR the past ten years the Athlone Institute Trust Bursary Project Fund in Paarl has been granting bursaries and bursary loans to promising and needy students who are permanent residents of Paarl and Mbekweni. Only undergraduate students who are registered at tertiary institutions, which have been accredited by the council on higher council, will be considered for a bursary or bursary loan. Although they have applied for a bursary/bursary loan with the Athlone Institute Bursary Project Fund, students must pay their registration fees at the institution where they are going to study at the beginning of the academic year, out of their own resources. Bursaries will be awarded with academic merit and/or financial need of the applicant as primary considerations including bursary loans to first year students with serious financial need, who have obtained a minimum aggregate of 950 in the Matric Exam. An applicant who qualifies for either a Bursary or Bursary Loan must be a permanent resident of Paarl or Mbekweni and a parish member in good standing of one of the member churches of the Athlone Institute Trust or a parishioner in good standing of any bona fide denomination in Paarl; must have been promoted after the last year of study; must show potential to study successfully; and be willing to be involved in some form of community service in Paarl/Mbekweni area under the supervision of the Athlone Institute Bursary Project Fund. Application forms and information for the Athlone Institute Trust Bursaries/Loans are available from Friday 20 November from H Smith, at 021-862-6767 (office hours). First year students who matriculated at Klein Nederburg SS who also register for a qualification in AgriScience at Stellenbosch University (US), may also apply for the Erna Witbooi Bursary (phone 021-862-6767).
