Ratepayers Association planned for Paarl

TIME for action! That is the message of the management of the Boland Chamber of Commerce, who are calling on all property owners in the Paarl municipal area, to join forces with them to form a Ratepayers Association. Says Trevor Harris, chairman of the local chamber of commerce, “With rising property taxes and municipal services costs, not to mention the severe threat of electricity increase over the next three years as demanded by Eskom, property owners are going to be faced with exceptionally high property ownership costs in the future, and many owners will not be able to afford their homes,” says Harris. “Constructive engagement with the local authority is needed, and we are proposing the establishment of a formal body in the Paarl Ratepayers Association.” All concerned property owners are invited to contact the chamber’s secretary, Helga Smit, at 021-948-9800 to obtain a membership application form, and a copy of the constitution.
