DRAKENSTEIN MUNICIPALITY, in collaboration with Bright Idea Projects 1668 CC, is hosting the Drakenstein Community Games, starting today until 16 December in the Drakenstein municipal area.

It is the fourth year that the Community Games have been implemented by Bright Idea Projects 1668 CC, as a holiday and sports awareness programme as youth development strategy.

The event is structured into advanced coaching clinics regarding athletics, mini-cricket, mini-rugby, mini-soccer, netball, indigenous games and cultural activities.

At each venue, a team will be selected to represent their area in a Reconciliation Day final held at the Dal Josaphat Stadium.

The programme is as follows:

* 3 December at Saron/Gouda (Gouda Sports Ground) 08:00-16:00;

* 4 December at Weltevrede 08:00-16:00;

* 7 December at Mbekweni (Rugby & Soccer Stadium) 08:00-16:00;

* 8 December Fairyland (sports ground) 08:00-16:00;

* 9 December New Orleans (sports ground) 08:00-16:00;

* 10 December Paulus Joubert (Primary and High School Grounds) 08:00-16:00;

* 11 December Simondium Primary 08:00-16:00;

* 14 December, administrative workshop (Dal Josaphat Stadium) 09:00-14:00;

* 15 December, trial run (Daljosaphat Stadium) 09:00-15:00;

* 16 December, final (Dal Josaphat Stadium) 08:00-17:00.
