United crowned again

THE Mayoral Cup came to an exciting end at the Mbekweni Stadium on Saturday, with football giants Mbekweni United being crowned champions for the third time in four years. As the favourites throughout the tournament with powerful performances, United never looked like taking their feet off the gas in the final either, beating City Killers 2-0 to claim glory. The senior men 3rd and 4th place play-off match saw Barcelona beating Juventus 2-1. In the ladies final, Lady Hawk United secured a good 2-0 victory over rivals Paarl United, while Paarl Ladies beat Wellchester 4-0 in the Ladies 3rd and 4th place Play-off match. Mbekweni Cosmos beat Paarl United 2-0 in the u.17 final. In the u.15 final, Mbekweni United thrashed Paarl Soccer Club 7-1, with Eleven Ideas being crowned u.13 champions, after their 2-0 win over All Stars.
