Car disappears with alleged fraudster

2009-12-10

THE public is being warned to be on the look-out for an alleged fraudster who swindles people out of their vehicles.

This is the lesson a man from Weltevrede in Wellington learnt in the hard way, when his car disappeared recently.

The complainant had seen an advertisement in a daily newspaper of a man who buys vehicles offering the ‘best price’.

He contacted a Jacques Enever, who rushed to Weltevrede to view the white Opel Corsa which the complainant wanted to sell.

The suspect requested permission to test drive the vehicle and drove off, but did not return to Weltevrede.

The claimant reported the incident to the police, who after following leads traced the vehicle to a garage in Maitland. The vehicle had already been sold and even registered in its new owner’s name.

The Opel was then recovered in Manenberg and confiscated by the police.

The police are looking for the suspect who goes by the name of Jacques Enever.

Anyone with information can contact Insp Hilton Green at 076-071-1949 or 021-868-9901.
