I AM proud of the South African Police Service, more precisely the Paarl East Visible Policing Response Unit.
Just after midnight on a Sunday night in October, a group of hooligans tried to attack my sister in Oleander Street in Klein Nederburg, Paarl.
She contacted me by phone, calling for help. As soon as I got the message, in a completely different suburb, I contacted a passing police patrol vehicle informing the officer on the situation.
As I raced to the scene of the crime, I was pleasantly surprised to see police vehicles rushing in the same direction from different points. I did not realise we had a top response team, like this, at the public’s disposal.
Let me just once again thank all the officers that were present and especially the station commanders in control of those sectors.
How proud I am too call myself a Paarlite. With all the crime happening in and around our country, there is no better place to call home than this little Winelands town of ours. Sincerely thanks. Viva 2010!
