Cycling event at Faure Street

CYCLISTS and cycling enthusiasts can prepare themselves for some exciting track cycling in Paarl over the Festive Season. The Neotel Yorkshire Cycling Club will host its annual Festive Season track cycling event on Saturday 19 December at the Faure Street Stadium in Paarl. The crowds will be entertained with racing from under 10- level to veterans. On the day a guaranteed prize fund of R10 000 will be up for grabs. The top cyclists will ensure for some fast and exciting racing in the main event of the day, the 25 Mile (40 km) race, where there will also be a substantial prize purse for the winners. Some of the other events cyclists will take part in are the elimination and points races. To ensure that the development of the sport is ongoing, the club will also host events for development/beginner cyclists on the day. These kids can participate with any kind of bicycle and only need to have a racing helmet. Parents are encouraged to bring their kids. The event will start at 14:00 and the stadium gates will open at 12:00. Cyclists can enter on the day from 12:30. Gate fees for spectators are R5 for children and R10 for adults. ) The Neotel Yorkshire Track Cycling Event is also a great build up for the annual Boxing Day cycling event on 26 December at the same venue.
