THE Endler Concert Series in Stellenbosch will bring in the New Year with the internationally acclaimed clarinet sensation, Lone Madsen.
The concert takes place in the Endler Hall, Stellenbosch, at 20:00 on 30 January.
Madsen, a graduate of the prestigious Julliard Music School in New York, has recently released her new CD ‘White Sands’, on which she features not only as player, but also as composer.
“I would like people to see and hear that the clarinet can be every bit as captivating and suggestive as the human voice,” said Madsen.
‘White Sands’ is not simply a reinterpretation of traditional clarinet music, but an innovative reinvention of beautiful sounds, rhythms and melodies - some old, some new.
Madsen will be accompanied by South African pianist, Nina Schumann, in a programme including the beautiful Fantasiestücke, by Robert Schumann, a composer whose works we will be hearing a lot of in 2010.
The duo will also be joined by cellist, Peter Martens in a selection of superb miniatures, Op 83 by Max Bruch.
Tickets at R95 and R75 are available at Computicket outlets countrywide or on 083-915-8000.
The box office at the Endler Hall will open at 19:00 on the night (021-808-2343 during office hours).
