Criminals beware

Criminals beware

2010-01-21

AFTER a spate of attacks by robbers hit residents of central Paarl towards the end of last year, they have now stepped up security in their area by founding the Paarl Rock Crime Watch.

And already in its short existence it has resulted in a notable reduction of crime in the neighbourhood.

According to chairperson Ian Robertson, residents are determined and totally committed to eliminate crime here.

The area covered by this programme is demarcated by the streets Non Pareille (north), De Kleine Molen, Hout, Orange/Mill and Kloof/Blake.

This area forms part of the Sector 3 Community Police Forum and is now regularly patrolled by various parties.

The patrols include ADT foot patrol officers, an ADT armed response vehicle now based in the designated area, as well as residents patrolling with their own vehicles.

In addition the Police Sector 3 vehicle and Rottweiler Security are also patrolling the area.

The foot patrol officer operates from an ADT control hut located on the corner of De Kleine Molen and Kloof Street.

Already a number of persons have been apprehended or removed from the area as a result of these patrols.

The website www.paarlrockcrimewatch.co.za will soon also be fully operational where neighbours can check the latest developments regarding security and crime in their area, or to report on suspicious persons and vehicles to alert others.

If you are living in this designated area and have not yet received any of the three newsletters that have already been sent out, contact administrator Nicky Albertyn on 021-872-4877 or Ian Robertson (chairman) on 083-625-1043.

Those persons wishing to know more about the ADT foot patrol can contact Patrick Hall on 083-676-5693.
