ATHLETICS WORKSHOPS
Several athletics workshops will take place in the Boland in preparation for the 2010 athletics season. A Technical Officials Symposium will be held at the Dal Josaphat Stadium on Saturday 23 January to discuss the latest IAAF Rule Changes and prepare technically for the new athletics season. The Athletics Omnibus (guidance on how to prepare programmes, when to train, when to rest and when to deliver a peak performance) as well as the 2010 IAAF Competition Rules, are available at the Boland Athletics Office. CHESS
The KMGA Boland Chess Open takes place at the Boschenmeer Paarl Golf Club, in an air-conditioned conference room, from 22 to 24 January. Organised by the Boland Chess Union, the prize-money exceeds that of the recent SA Closed (1st - R2 000 and Trophy and Floating Trophy; 2nd: R1 500 and Trophy; 3rd: R1 000 and Trophy. Juniors will receive medals. Entry is R50 for the first 50 entries (after first 50 entries it is R80) and late entries pay R120.
