AN exhibition by acclaimed wildlife artist Frans Mulder on his giant canvases featuring African Wild Dog and other animals has gone on display in Franschhoek to benefit one of the world’s largest animal welfare groups.

The exhibition “Wild Dogs of Kwande” at Bread & Wine Restaurant on Môreson Wine Farm will benefit the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), which bases its Southern African branch in Cape Town.

The eleven giant canvases will be on display at Bread & Wine until 18 September between 10:30 and 15:30, Wednesday to Sunday.

The “Wild Dogs of Kwande” is a series of portraits of the African Wild Dog (Lycaon Pictus) pack that lives at Kwande Private Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape.

Kwande, a reserve of CC Africa and a Relais & Chateau establishment, in recent years embarked on a successful project to reintroduce the African Wild Dog to the reserve.

Frans Mulder, who works from his studio in Bedford, Eastern Cape Province, is known for his realistic portrayals of African wildlife - most of his canvases are lifesize - which hang in private and corporate collections both in South Africa and internationally.
