THE Up the Creek Music Festival will take place from 5 to 7 February at the Breede River, Swellendam. There will be more than 30 live music and comedy acts and only 2 000 festival goers with a passion for some of South Africa’s best music in common will be able to experience Up the Creek 2010. Creekers can look forward to performances by a selection of some of the best in the entertainment industry like The Dirty Skirts, Taxi Violence, The Rudimentals, Bed on Bricks, Flat Stanley, Piet Botha, Ashtray Electric, The Pretty Blue Guns, Dave Ferguson, The Black Cat Bones, the Boulevard Blues Band, Akkedis, Van Coke Kartel (acoustic), Hot Water, and Sunrise Toffies and many more will be joined on stage with a selection of some seriously funny comedians, like Corné and Twakkie, Martin Evans and Dave Levinson. Check out www.upthecreek.co.za for the complete line-up, competitions and more news. In typical Up the Creek tradition there will be the main stage, the river stage and the all-night-long Die Burger Bar Stage. For the die-hard Creekers, there will be a show at Die Burger Bar Stage on Thursday 4 February. You can claim the best camping spot and enjoy an extra night at Up the Creek with various performances. There will be food vendors to get you through the days in style, including coffee maestros that can deliver your caffeine to your tent-step, more stalls and more bars throughout the festival. Committed staff will also look after the kiddies, as well as life-guards to look after the young at heart at the river. You can either bring your own tent or rent a pre-pitched tent.
