Small businesses in line for award

IF you own or manage an established small, medium or micro enterprise (SMME) you can enter the 2010 South Africa SMME Awards competition. Your business must be older than two years, have an original business idea and your business must contribute positively to the image of business in South Africa. The awards ceremony which will showcases the country’s best SMMEs in the trade, services and industrial sectors will take place on 21 October in Gauteng. This competition is hosted by the Africagrowth Institute. The Institute wants to acknowledge and highlight the important role South African SMMEs plays in promoting wealth and prosperity in the country. These businesses must be well established, in good financial shape and enjoy a reputation for quality, integrity and service. SMMEs can be nominated in any one of the following categories (only enter one category): industrial (manufacturing, electricity, gas, water, construction, mining & quarrying and agriculture), trade sector (wholesale, retail sector, arts and crafts) and the services sector (financial & business services, transport, storage, communication, hospitality and tourism) and Best New Business (under three years old).
