Luvo qualifies for SA championships

LUVO MANYONGA, a junior athlete, and Grade 12 learner from Desmund Tutu Secondary School, recently showed the senior athletes how to qualify for the 2010 SA Track and Field Championships. During a Boland Athletics League Meeting on Friday 29 January in Stellenbosch, Luvo qualified for the SA Track and Field Championships in Long Jump in a new Boland Junior and Senior Record of 7,90m. In the same competition, Keenan Wat-son, the previous Boland Senior Long Jump record holder, was 2nd in 7,85m. In true athletics spirit, Keenan, an old boy of Paarl Boys’ High School, congratulated Luvo after the competition with his record breaking performance. With three weeks left before the final Boland Team to the 2010 SA Track and Field Championships will be announced, Boland athletes have only a few opportunities left to qualify.
