Road and Mountain Cycle Race on Sunday

THE Bouckaert-Soenen Road and Mountain Cycle Race organised and managed by the Rotary Club of Paarl, under the auspices of Pedal Power Association, will take place on Sunday 21 February. This annual event is a League Race and is also a fun-ride, aimed at the whole family, with the aim of attracting as many cyclists as possible. Proceeds from this event go towards sustaining the Rotary Club’s many charitable projects. The event will start at a new venue, at Paarl Boys’ High’s sports grounds at Brug Street. Late registration will take place at the clubhouse, with the race starting and finishing in the Berg River Boulevard nearby. The road race long route (126km) starts at 06:15, followed by the medium route (72km) at 08:00 and the short route (40km) at 08:55. The MTB race long route (45km) starts at 07:15 and the short route (25km) starts at 08:30. Cut-off time is 12:00 and the prize-giving will take place at 12:30. Berg River Boulevard and all intersecting streets from Cecilia Street to the circle will also be closed for northbound traffic from 04:30 to 12:30.
