Fatal crash outside Franschhoek

A MAN died outside Franschhoek on the R45 this week, when the vehicle which he was travelling in, was involved in a collision. The incident took place on Monday morning when the tyre of an Isuzu bakkie burst while transporting 14 workers. The driver of the bakkie lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll. The passengers as well as the driver where flung from the vehicle. One person was seriously injured and died on the scene while receiving treatment from medical personnel. The 51-year-old victim is from Phillipi. * A man appeared in court after the death of a pedestrian in Mbekweni last Sunday. At 14:00, Ray Mcedesi (50) was crossing Silimela Street in Project 2, Mbekweni, when he was struck by a vehicle. The suspect, Lunga Thengani, was allegedly driving an unroadworthy vehicle at the time of the incident. He was arrested and charged with culpable homicide.
