Keep laptops safe

Keep laptops safe

LAPTOPS are continually targeted by criminals during burglaries.

A spokesperson for Paarl police station, Capt Louise du Plessis, said that laptops are often stolen during residential and business burglaries, as well as from motor vehicles.

This is due to the fact that there is a large second-hand market for such goods.

As a security member the public should record serial numbers and markings on their laptops, and take photographs thereof. This can assist the police in their investigation when such items are stolen.

It is also advised that laptop owners either secure them to their desks with a special lock, or to physically lock them out of sight.

Any information pertaining to the theft of laptops or the sale of stolen goods can be given to the Paarl police at 021-807-4000, or to Capt du Plessis on 082-850-9614.
