Chain-saw attack

Chain-saw attack

2010-02-18

A CASE of murder may be investigated after a mother and her daughter were brutally attacked with a chain-saw by her estranged husband.

Karin Adams and her daughter, Tracey (18), narrowly escaped death when they were attacked by Christopher Adams in a house in Jason Adams Street in Langvlei, Paarl East.

Karin and Tracey had left their home which they shared with Christopher in Groenheuwel last year, pending a divorce.

They had moved in with Karin’s sister, Sanoline Gouws, in Jason Adams Street, and were allegedly often under lock and key due to Christopher’s violent temper.

So much so, that a restraining order was obtained to keep him at bay.

But on Thursday afternoon Christopher obviously snapped.

According to eye-witnesses he arrived in his vehicle at 9A Jason Adams Street and calmly took out a chain-saw, which he had hired, from the boot of his car.

He proceeded through the garden gate and headed straight into the house to his wife and daughter.

Neighbours were not only alerted to the drama that enfolded by the noise of the chain-saw, but also by the blood curdling screams from within the house.

Karin was cut in the face while Tracey’s hand was severely injured when she tried to protect her face from the chain of the saw.

A doctor in nearby Klein Drakenstein Drive was summoned to the scene to attend to Karin and Tracey’s injuries.

On arrival he not only discovered them with lacerations, but he also discovered the body of Christopher lying in a pool of blood in the lounge, with numerous stab wounds.

The wounds of mother and daughter were treated by the doctor, before a neighbour was summoned to take them to MediClinic hospital. They were both discharged on Monday.

Currently it is unknown how Christopher came to his end, but a case of murder is expected to be investigated once all the forensic evidence has been gathered.

Christopher worked for Dischem as a messenger. According to colleagues he was a calm, dutiful person and very pleasant to work with.

His funeral takes place on Saturday from the family home at 5 Rhapsody Avenue and thereafter at the Bet-el VGK.
