Learning about your financial health for free
2010-02-25
IN making 2010 a year of learning, Compuscan Academy recently hosted a free Financial Health Workshop at the Drakenstein Public Library in Paarl. As part of Compuscan Academy’s contribution to the community, tips about money management were introduced to enhance the financial health of those who attended. Uncertainty about future prospects, job losses, interest rate hikes, increased food and petrol prices causing increased financial distress. Compuscan Academy is committed to creating awareness about the importance of being financially healthy as well as recommending preventative measures to avoid falling in a ‘debt trap’. The attendees learnt about taking charge of their financial situation, avoiding financial distress, assessing and understanding their financial status, how to budget, planning personal finances, making good saving decisions, understanding their credit report, default information and judgements and managing their credit accounts responsibly. They were also offered the opportunity to get a copy of their free credit report. They agreed that by the end of the day they were feeling more relaxed and better equipped to handle their financial affairs. Many more of these types of courses should be held,” Arlene, the librarian commented.
